WILDLIFE EMERGENCY: (720) 831-8130

VOLUNTEER.
Rocky Mountain Wildlife Alliance depends on dedicated volunteers to help care for the hundreds of animals we receive each year. Volunteering with us is more than lending a hand—it’s an opportunity to learn, grow, and make a real impact for wildlife.
Whether you’re scrubbing enclosures, preparing diets, or assisting with critical patient care, every task plays an important role in helping Colorado’s wild animals return to their natural habitats. Our goal is to make volunteering fun, meaningful, and educational!
WHAT TO EXPECT.
Volunteering with us is designed to be a hands-on learning experience. You’ll gain valuable skills in:
-
Safe wildlife handling techniques

Cleaning and sterilization procedures
-
Habitat enrichment and animal husbandry
-
Diet preparation and feeding methods
-
Triage and critical care support
-
Human-wildlife conflict resolution
-

Skills & Qualities We Look For
Our most successful volunteers bring a sense of responsibility and a willingness to learn. We value individuals who are:
-
Excellent communicators
-
Team players who can also work independently
-
Flexible and adaptable
-
Respectful in all interactions—with both people and animals
Expectations
Working with wildlife isn’t always glamorous—it’s often messy, physically demanding. In addition to animal care, volunteers may:
-
Clean and scrub kennels, enclosures, and workspaces
-
Wash dishes, do laundry, mop floors, and manage supplies
-
Care for feeder animals
-
Help maintain the nature center
Every task, no matter how small, has educational value. Volunteers are expected to ask questions, stay motivated, and approach each shift with a positive, curious mindset.
